My food story was greatly influenced by my first job at a local bakery and deli called The Locke store. I worked as an apprentice to a pastry chef and assisted other cooks though out my daily work. Working at The Locke Store inspired my passion for cooking and appreciation for local organic foods. We worked with local farmers and vendors to incorporate their products into the menu and make local foods more accessible to the community. Working at a woman-owned and run small business has given me confidence to pursue a career path within the food industry.
